The Feature Creep

Bandwidth Barons: Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Bandwidth Barons is a game by SSMG - The Feature Creep (thefeaturecreep.dev). This page says what the game does with your data. It covers the game on every platform, the demo included: the Android app on Google Play (dev.thefeaturecreep.bandwidthbarons), the same app's APK from itch.io and GitHub, and the Windows, macOS and Linux versions.

In short

The game collects nothing about you. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. It sends us its play logs, which hold what you did in the game, so we can see where it drags and where it breaks. It tells you so before it sends anything, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. Everything else it saves stays on your device.

What the game collects and shares

Nothing about you. Unless you turn it off, we receive your play logs (below). We don't sell or share them, and the game contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code from other companies, so no other company receives anything through it except Cloudflare, which stores the logs for us.

What stays on your device

The game keeps these files in its own folder on your device:

  • Saved games: your company and its progress.
  • Settings: the sound, the screen, the language, the keys, and whether play logs are sent.
  • Play logs: one file for each time you start the game. A log holds what you did in the game: your company's name, your commands, the game's dates and cash, the game's version, and the name of the operating system it ran on (Windows, macOS, Linux or Android). The game keeps the newest 100.
  • The upload record: a random install id and how much of each log has gone up.

The only thing you type is your company's name, and any name will do. Play logs are sent to us unless you turn that off (below). The other files never leave your device unless you copy them yourself.

The game's folder is:

  • Android: Android/data/dev.thefeaturecreep.bandwidthbarons/files/ on the phone's shared storage. A computer connected over USB can read it, and on Android 10 and earlier so can other apps that you allowed to read your storage.
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\bandwidth-barons
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/bandwidth-barons
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/bandwidth-barons

Sending play logs

The game sends its play logs to us, so we can see where it drags and where it breaks. The first time you start a version that sends them, a Customer Experience Improvement Program notice says so, with a Turn Off button beside OK. Nothing goes before that notice or while it's up, so you can turn sending off before anything leaves. The Send play logs box in Settings turns it off or on again at any time. We send them because improving the game is our legitimate interest, and turning them off is how you object to it.

  • What goes up: your play logs, each one the server doesn't have yet, and again when it grows. If you turn sending off and later on again, the logs written while it was off go too. Each log goes with the game's edition (full or demo), its version, and the random install id, which ties your logs together and says nothing about you.
  • When: when the game starts, every few minutes while you play, when you log off, and when a phone switches away from the game.
  • How: over HTTPS, so every log travels encrypted. A device the game can't send from over HTTPS sends nothing.
  • Where: to bandwidth-barons-logs.thefeaturecreep.dev, a Cloudflare Worker that stores each log in Cloudflare R2. Like any connection, the upload passes through Cloudflare with your device's IP address, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The server stores no address and no request details, only the log. Only we can read the stored logs.
  • How long: with no set end, for as long as they help us make the game.

Untick Send play logs and nothing more goes. Ticking it again keeps the same install id.

Deleting your data

On Android, uninstalling the game deletes its folder. On a computer, delete the folder above.

The logs the game already sent stay with us after that. To have them deleted, email us your install id: it's in uploads.json in the game's folder, so copy it before you delete the folder. Without that id we can't tell which logs are yours.

Android permissions

The Android app is built on the LÖVE game engine and declares the permissions the engine comes with:

  • Internet: used only to send play logs, unless you turn that off. A link in the game opens your web browser.
  • Vibrate and Bluetooth: the engine uses them for vibration and for game controllers. The game uses neither.
  • Storage, only on Android 4.3 and earlier, which the game doesn't run on.

The game doesn't access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files outside its own folder, or advertising ID.

Stores and links

The store or site you got the game from (Google Play, Steam, itch.io or GitHub) handles the download and any payment under its own privacy policy. It may show us statistics that don't identify you, such as the number of installs or crashes.

Some buttons in the game open a store page in your web browser. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Children

The game isn't directed at children under 13. It asks for nothing about whoever plays it, and its play logs hold nothing about them.

Changes

One thing is planned: on Android, one in-app purchase that unlocks the full game. Before a version with it is released, this page will say what the purchase sends, where it goes, how long we keep it, and why, and the date at the top will change.
